Our activities at Itijah are diverse and encompass a wide range of topics. We streamline our efforts to include influential groups and individuals from local youth to global policymakers.
Climate change is one of the most pressing issues facing the world today, with ramifications felt across nearly all sectors of society. Due in part to its geographic location, Palestine is particularly vulnerable to such effects as drought and sea level rise.
Itijah is a leading organization with regard to combating climate change in Palestine. We believe the environmental movement to be an integral part of Palestine’s progression and are dedicated to preserving the well-being of our planet.
Mostly recently, we began a campaign to raise awareness to the benefits of Palestine’s recent membership in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC). In the near future, we will endeavor to end the environmental injustices caused by unauthorized stone quarrying in Palestine. We hope to continue playing a role in combating the effects of climate change through activism and engagement through these and other projects.
Youth and women are among the most vulnerable members of society. Without equal or appropriate access to the infrastructure necessary for widespread change, these groups will be largely unable to contribute to progress with their full potential. Especially with regard to climate change, youth and women experience different and often more disadvantaged realities than other citizens. At Itijah, we understand the importance of empowering these two distinct groups to allow them the freedom to aid societal advancement in accordance with their own desires.
Advocacy is a crucial aspect of inspiring change in all aspects of society. Through advocacy, we aim to influence the decisions of important figures in varying sectors from politics to social systems. With this holistic approach to change, we believe our ideas and aspirations will be widespread and impactful.
At Itijah, we understand the valuable role media plays in integrating change. That is why we utilize media across the board to inspire action and awareness. We seek valuable interplay between key players in print, radio, television, and online media in an effort to effectively and quickly disseminate important information as well as continuously update the public on our events.
Human rights are those belonging to every human being regardless of race, nationality, sex, religion, or any other status. Securing these rights is a fundamental component of our mission at Itijah. We believe in the concept of basic human freedoms and strive to see that they are not denied by discrimination.
